Rooted PresenceDeath doula / companion · South Africa
It would be my privilege to honour your journey with sacred presence.

What if preparing for death was simply another way of preparing to live well?
We tend to think about death only when we have to… After a diagnosis, when someone we love becomes frail, or when time suddenly feels limited.
But perhaps we don’t need to wait for that moment. There is something powerful about gently turning towards our own mortality while we are still well, still living fully and still able to choose.
I offer a space to begin those conversations, explore what matters most to you and put thoughtful plans in place for the road ahead.
Sometimes that means practical preparation. Sometimes it means making sense of fears, hopes or unfinished conversations. Sometimes it simply means having someone beside you who is willing to talk openly about death - without rushing to fix it, soften it or look away.
How do I want to engage in life, how do I want to live, how do I want to love and be…here and now.
You don’t have to know the way. You only need someone willing to walk it with you.

There are people who spend their lives avoiding difficult moments.
I have always found myself quietly stepping into them.
I came to realise that most people don’t need someone to fix their pain. They simply need someone willing to stay.
Today it is my privilege to walk alongside individuals and families as they navigate death, dying and grief. I offer a calm and compassionate presence, along with practical support and a space to have the conversations that can sometimes feel too difficult to have elsewhere.
Because I believe death deserves as much care, dignity and tenderness as birth.

Questions people often ask
What is a Death Doula?
A Death Doula provides compassionate, non-medical, emotional, practical and educational support to individuals and families as they navigate serious illness, dying, death and grief. But perhaps more simply, I’m here to walk alongside you when life feels uncertain, tender or difficult to navigate alone.
When should I contact a Death Doula?
There isn’t a “right” time. You don’t need to wait until someone is very ill, in crisis, or nearing the end of life. Sometimes, the greatest gift is having these conversations before they become urgent - giving you time to think, talk, plan and find some peace of mind.
Do you only support people who are dying?
No. I support people at many different points along the journey, including those living with serious or life-limiting illness, those caring for someone they love and those who simply want to think more consciously about death and what matters to them.
Are you a medical professional?
No. I don’t provide medical care, diagnose illness, prescribe medication or replace the role of your doctors, nurses or other healthcare professionals. I work alongside the medical and palliative care teams involved in your care.

You don’t need to know exactly what you need, and you don’t need to have the right words. Our first conversation is an opportunity to talk about what’s happening, what’s on your mind and what you’re hoping for.
